The government's ban on onion export and the decision to allow free import of yellow peas has led to a slight decline in retail prices of these commodities. Onion prices have fallen by 7% in the past week. To control pulse prices, the government is selling moong dal at subsidised rates through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (Nafed). Nafed is selling moong dal at Rs 107 per kg, which is Rs 15 less than its procurement price. The government expects prices of all major pulses to fall further due to the import of yellow peas.
