Odisha: Health experts visit village where Delta+ variant case was found

Experts have a mixed view on the danger that the Delta Plus variant may pose even as a three-member team of health department officials on Saturday visited the village of the man in Deogarh district, who was found infected with the new strain of Covid-19, to take stock of the situation. Delta (B.1.617.2) variant was the predominant strain during the second wave in the state with 713 out of 1,150 sequenced (62%) in March to May were Delta. The state has found only one Delta Plus (B.1.617.2.1/(AY.1), a mutant of Delta. Both have been declared variants of concern.
